3D scanning spray from REFLECON®
What do you need 3D scanning sprays for?
3D scanning sprays are used for matting and antireflection coating of highly reflective, mirror-like, transparent and very dark surfaces. This enables them to be scanned better in optical 3D laser measurement technology and complex geometries to be measured more precisely and quickly. Especially when 3D scanning components, the sprays prove to be indispensable. The REFLECON® 3D scanning spray is sprayed onto the surfaces beforehand.
What types of matting sprays are there?
- Volatile, i.e. sublimating scanning sprays (our REFLECON® TARNISH – TYPE 1)
- non-volatile, non-sublimating scanning sprays (our REFLECON® TARNISH – TYPE 2)
Sublimating 3D scanning sprays are particularly suitable for large objects, for paint layers and plastics. Since the applied spray evaporates after a while, it does not have to be removed over a large area. Thus, it is also advantageous for objects that are difficult to clean, including small or delicate objects.
Non-sublimating 3D scanning sprays are well suited for non-coated objects, metals, non-metals and thermoplastics. When applied, a fine white layer of powder forms that must be removed later. Removal is effortless using a cloth, brush or simply water. The non-sublimating spray is particularly recommended for time-intensive scanning processes, as it does not automatically evaporate.
Fields of application for the 3D scanning spray from REFLECON®Optical 3D laser scanning is used in various sectors of industry. The following industrial sectors are typical:
- space technology
- Medical technology (for example in prosthesis construction)
- General industrial applications such as mechanical engineering
- Culture and art
The process of 3D measurement by laser and the 3D scanning sprays are used in surface inspection, optical testing and measurement, reverse engineering, quality control and research and development.
